The washer is top-loading with an extra large door that facilitates loading of laundry.
It features a wash basket with a capacity of 2.6 cu. ft., and has nine automatic wash cycles intended for whites, coloreds, linens, permanent press, and delicates. It also has pre-soak and pre-treat settings for a more efficient clean. It has three spin speed settings, and three wash/rinse temperature combinations –hot/cold, warm/cold, and cold/cold. This is automatically chosen when you pick your desired wash setting. Rinsing is always cold to keep your clothes from too much wrinkling.
A trademarked IntelliFill Water Level Sensor is incorporated into the washer. It chooses from four levels the optimum amount of water needed to wash your laundry, thus water is never excessive. To make your washing even more convenient, the washer also includes dispensers for bleach and fabric softeners.
The dryer, having a bigger capacity than the washer at 5.9 cu. ft., can easily accommodate the washed laundry. With six dry cycles to choose from, you are assured of a complete dry yet you need not worry about over-drying and damaging your clothes. You can even choose the GentleBreeze option that uses a powerful airflow with low temperatures for fast drying.
The Maytag MET3800TW Washer and Dryer is easy to operate. The controls are mounted at the top of the dryer, away from places where water could conceivably drop on them. They consist of rotary knobs, which are more durable than fancy electronic touch buttons.
