Designed to fit into the small laundry areas of urban apartments and condominium units, the footprint of the Whirlpool LTE5243DQ Washer and Dryer Laundry Center is only 4½ square feet. It is a stackable type with separate tubs for washing and drying.
The washer is top-loading with a top frame and lid that are finished with Whirlpool's ToughTop II. It features a Spreckle porcelain-coated wash basket with a capacity of 1.5 cu. ft., which is activated by a 1.5-horsepower motor.
The LTE5243DQ has five automatic cycle settings including Pre-wash, Super Wash, Regular, Permanent Press, and Delicates that would suit most types of fabrics. It has a Surgilator agitator that pulls clothes down into the center of the basket as it rotates back and forth and then pushes them back against its walls. This alternating motion effectively removes dirt and grime from your clothes. If your clothes are only lightly soiled, you can use the machine's gentle wash system thus sparing them the harsher motions of the regular wash cycles.
With four temperature settings, you can choose the level appropriate to the fabric of your clothes. You can even choose the water level from three different adjustments. Also, the washer has five wash/spin combinations.
The drier of the Whirlpool LTE5243DW Washer and Dryer Laundry Center is stacked above the washer. It opens at the front and has a capacity of 3.4 cu. ft. It features a Dry-Miser control that enables you to set the machine either on less dry or very dry and then forget about it. Dry-Miser automatically senses the temperature of the exhaust air, and based on this, it can determine the dryness of the clothes. If the pre-set level is reached, it shuts the dryer down.
There are five automatic dry cycles –Regular, Permanent Press, Tumble Press, Timed Drying, and Fluff Air. Drying temperatures can also be set to three different levels.
